Over the weekend I took some time to visit the London Festival of Lights (Lumiere Festival West End and Kings Cross) and (Winter Lights Festival Canary Wharf). During the two nights, I headed with friends to check them out. The Lumiere festival was stretched out across a large part of the city. There were more people there that you could imagine. I saw they actually turned the lights off at one point to disperse the crowds. Visiting the Winter Lights in Canary Wharf (while still cold) was much more comfortable.
But despite the crowds, it made for some fantastic street photography. The combination of bright lights and cold darkness had a cinematic vibe. So when I got the photos into Lightroom I did a little bit of editing. Putting blue into the shadows emphasised the cold and orange warmed up the highlights. This helped to visualise how the night felt. Stay in the lights and you are warm but venture too far and you’ll freeze!
Let me know what you think of the photos in the comments section below. I always love to get feedback (both positive and negative). Likewise, if you have any questions about the editing or even the lights. If you want to download this preset you can do so down below by entering your email and clicking download.
Thanks for stopping by.
